Rumortravels.com

Just saw it today, the actual UGG video contest Lufthansa is doing to promote its European flights. I like it, it's simple, fun and obvious. Fred, Alain this is more food for your brains :-) Check out the Sweden destination guys, and everyone, Germany is pretty cool (pity they did not include a search destination box).  Surprisingly there's not so much videos (visitors can either posts rumors and/or videos). Could it be people were impressed by the company 'exemple' videos? Did not see one for Brussels, the Cakes this is for you!! Quick, entries close in 2 days.

How to market- hum sorry, converse - on Facebook?

Forrester Charlene Li is one of my favorite readings. This time she released a presentation on how the brands should market on Facebook. Good reading showing:

  1. it's no longer a kid's world (you know, I know, but they still don't :-). 12% have children under 16! Yes  ma'am!
  2. some best practices to leverage Facebook power within marketing strategies. But why does she include bannering in it? - especially given the title of the presentation stressing the fact that Facebook marketing requires communicating NOT advertising. ?!?

Adverblog recommends this reading along. Seems like a more in-depth analysis of the platform. Printing will be required though to make the best out of it..

A few Belgian numbers on social media

Picture_1 Une fois n'est pas coutume, back to my focus :-) Thanks to Insites and its great e-scape reports online free access (register here), I'm able to share a few numbers on our Belgian habits concerning my favorite subject. Hope you'll appreciate the sharing (and do get register, this is a nice tool).
% of the Online Belgian Population (based on a representative survey of 1,300 persons):

  • downloading RSS feeds daily: 3%,  weekly: 9% , monthly: 8% (never: 68- gloups)
  • dowloading podcasts: 1%, 6%, 5% (gloups: 77%) - thought would be bigger than feeds download..
  • watching videos images, 5%, 22%, 22% (36%)- thought would be bigger tout court
  • make weblogs: 1%, 4%, 4% (83%)  - 17% of the OBP creating more than 1,000,000 blogs?? I'd really like to have more numbers on this one
  • read weblogs: 3%, 16%, 17% (gloups: 45%)

Now if you wonder the kind of content you should develop today this gives you a pretty good idea, uh? ...

Picture_12 Here's Sven explanation about the video, if needed (copied with authorisation ;)

sven@doggybites.com says: (10:16:17)
we don t want people who think in straight ad traditions : fast exiting etc...
sven@doggybites.com says: (10:16:39)
we want another personality, one who can bite down in a problem
sven@doggybites.com says: (10:16:51)
and is willing to sacrifice a lot of time in it

Brussels Girl Geek Dinner

1603899061_f106d9a8c8_m Came in late so I missed Veerle's news but thanks to a few curious and motivated boys or as Clo put it "decorative and "-  sorry, I only remember the most important characteristic they must have to be able to show up :-), you can see her here and see more of the GG here.

I had a great time meeting Diana, Liz, Barbara, Talia, Tanguy and seeing again with always the same pleasure Julie, Baudouin, Kris, Robin, etc. Too little time for so many new heads but next diner is November 14th so catch up is pretty soon.

The diner was a big success! Apart from the enthousiastic girls feedback, the event had a lot of press coverage: regional TV channels and radios seemed pretty curious to see how Girl Geeks look like.  I AM curious to see the outcomes. If anyone can link me to it, please do. It was time for me to get my second "interview" on Pure FM. No comment. I'm very impressed by how Clo and Kris are naturally good at this kind of exercice. Nothing to do with practice. Alex, we should definitely schedule time for a 'speaking in public' session though ;)

Rolling Talks update

Looks more and more like a diary book and even not a very often updated one. I guess I have to put more in practice what I'm selling...Anyway, to make this short and efficient, here what I've been up to these last 10 days/nights:

- helping Attentio with a monitoring presentation we organised yesterday for agencies around buzz monitoring. I must say that even if I was happy to see a bit more than 25 persons coming from communication agencies, PR agencies, Media agencies, I could feel while promoting the event there's a HELL of a lot of education to be done on the subject. Good news I guess, since:

- visiting several agencies like TBWA, Dansaert&fils, Cherry&Cake, Mindshare, Pr-ide to discuss Social Media and think about practical uses for their clients

- working on a secret third-party User Generated presentation ;) and an official one for Euractiv who kindly asks me to be a speaker at their 2nd media workshop they're organising next week to launch their blog platform.

- enjoying an inspiring dinner last Tuesday at the Mess with Microsoftees Surya Vanka , Geert Desager (whom I finally met), Tom Mertens , and other fellow bloggers like Brice and Ine (whom I will hopefully meet better next week at the Brussels Girl Geek Dinner)... Surya called me a 'meta blogger', referring to my mission to help companies integrate blogs as a marketing channel. I like it but not worthy of it..in regards to my own so non consistent production for RT..

Over for what I can talk about :-) Still have not found time to start my Tai-chi lessons but I'm a regular student at my music ones, on Wednesday nights, impatiently looking for my cello teacher to show up. Coming days, no more posts: Lisboa for pleasure,  London for business, back in Belgium for Customer First. :-)
